The to-do list reinvented

Mark Forster's system goes digital

AutoFocused main task list

AutoFocused 1.0 takes Mark Forster's AFv4 time management system from paper straight to the desktop. Reworked from page to the screen AutoFocused features all the rules of AFv4 such as backlog tasks and moving active tasks into the backlog when they are all complete. Quickly scan long backlogs with automatic page numbering and mark the current task you're working on so you can quickly reference your thoughts should you get distracted. It's all here and wrapped in a beautifully crafted interface.

StatusBoard

See how you're progressing

AutoFocused main task list

Enter StatusBoard to get a bird's eye view of your progress. Watch as your task list elegantly slides out of sight to reveal beautiful progress bars and useful information. StatusBoard shows how your task list is split, and your progress in both your backlog and active lists. Unlike traditional applications that squeeze information into tiny status bars, AutoFocused introduces StatusBoard that gives your information room to breathe - and looks great.

TaskTense

Complete tasks that make sense

AutoFocused main task list

When you mark a task as complete, TaskTense automatically analyzes its text and changes the grammar of the item to read in the past tense. For example 'buy milk' reads 'bought milk' when marked as complete. Complete tasks now make more sense than ever when reviewing your tasks. TaskTense takes a traditional to-do style list and makes it read in natural language, because of this our minds quickly identify what has been done and what still needs to be done.

AutoClean

A tidy to-do list in no effort at all.

AutoFocused main task list

If you would rather be productive than spend time tidying out your task list then AutoFocused can automatically clean complete tasks for you. Specify how long you would like tasks to remain in the list after they are complete and AutoFocused will do the rest.

Complete tasks stay in your list for a week by default, giving you an overview of what you have recently done and time to change your mind.

Current Task Marker

The best way to stay focused.

AutoFocused main task list

Mark the task you're working on so that if you get distracted you can always quickly reference your task list to see what you should be doing. When a task is marked as the current task the marker will remain on that task until you change the current task to another task on your list. AutoFocused even remembers which task was your current when you close and open the application. So you can always depend on AutoFocused to get you focused.

Pages

Jump through long to-do lists.

Get Everything Done. In 3 easy steps

Unanswered emails, calls not returned, missing deadlines and overlooked details are all indications of a disorganized person. If you allow these things to happen you run risk of being judged as a person who is unreliable. The consequences can be loss of business, loss of trust and a break down in personal relationships.

AutoFocused is a super efficient to-do list, that serves all your tasks so you never have to remember them. This means you can easily work through your task list each day and as new ideas spring into your mind add them to your list in seconds. Follow these 3 simple steps and take charge of your productivity.

Create new tasks when you think of them.

Whenever you think of new tasks that you need to remember add them into your task list. Because you create tasks right in the task list entering new tasks takes no time at all. When you create a new task AutoFocused will automatically place it in the backlog if all the backlog items are complete.

Create new tasks using your keyboard by pressing Ctrl+N. To create the task enter the task name and press Enter. To cancel the new task press Esc.

Start with your backlog

Tasks that appear above the list break are known as the backlog. These tasks are thoughts and tasks that are older than the items below the break (active tasks). Whenever you start the working day, or have complete a task quickly scan your backlog to find your next task. If nothing in the backlog needs doing move onto active tasks. Whenever the backlog is empty, or all backlogged tasks are complete active tasks will be moved into the backlog.

Quickly jump to the top or bottom of your list using Page Up and Page Down. If you have enabled the pages, you can jump between pages using Ctrl+(1-9). If you have more than 10 pages you can use the page switcher in the toolbar to select a page.

Check your progress.

Periodically use StatusBoard to get an overview of your progress. Start by noticing how your tasks are split using the Active/Backlog split bar. If your active list is significantly larger than your backlog list then this may suggest you are not working through your backlog items. Check to see if any of the backlog tasks need removing because you have decided they do not need completing. If you enable AutoClean we recommend you leave complete tasks in the list for a few days so you can reflect on your progress and feel proud!

You can quickly enter and exit StatusBoard by pressing Ctrl+Space. Remember that the toolbar will always display the current number of incomplete tasks. You can change the toolbar from backlog to all tasks in the application preferences if you prefer.
